Sr. IT Architect/Engineer – Hartford, CT


Communicate with staff or clients to understand specific system requirements.
Provide solutions for end to end infrastructure project design concepts or design changes.
End to end infrastructure includes: Enterprise facilities of Firewalls, DNS, Virtual
Servers (Unix or Wintel), Web Application Containers (IIS, IHS/WAS), MQ
Messaging, DB's (MS SQL, Oracle, DB2), Storage (NAS/SAN),
Authentication, HA
Document design specifications for end to end infrastructure, installation instructions, and other system-related information for end to end infrastructure.
Verify stability, interoperability, portability, security, or scalability of infrastructure architecture.
Collaborate with engineers or software developers to select appropriate design solutions or ensure the compatibility of system components.
Evaluate current or emerging technologies to consider factors such as cost, portability, compatibility, or usability.
Provide technical guidance or support for the development or troubleshooting of systems.
Identify system data, hardware, or software components required to meet user needs.
Provide guidelines for implementing secure systems to customers or installation teams.


Engineering design of infrastructure and server hosting environments including:

Intel Server Frames: ESX, Windows Server 2008, Windows server 2012, Linux Red Hat
Unix Server Frames: IBM-AIX – VLPARS, Sun Solaris – Sun Zones, Mainframe - zLinux
Networking: Firewall Rules – Checkpoint, F5 Content Switch (Load Balancing)
Web application containers: IIS - .Net, IHS/WAS – J2EE, Apache/JBOSS – J2EE
Storage: SAN, NAS
DB: MS SQL, My SQL, Oracle, DB2, Sybase
Messaging: W MQ, Rabbit MQ
DNS – Internal / External: QIP, Bind
Authentication: LDAP, Siteminder, AD


Ability to analyze and design infrastructure based on requirements & senior level knowledge of best uses of technologies listed below along with occasional server performance reports.
Ability to communicate effectively across multiple delivery teams
Apply Managed Services standards compliance
Initiating eOrders to internal downstream delivery teams with appropriate specifications per design
