Postdoctoral Research Position - Neurovascular Dysfunction in Alzheimer's Disease

The Hartz Laboratory at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY is seeking a qualified candidate for a postdoctoral position for an NIH-funded project (2R01AG039621) entitled "Restoring Blood-Brain Barrier Function to Improve Cognition in Alzheimer's Disease".

The project is focused on modulating blood-brain barrier function in Alzheimer's disease and includes work with transgenic mouse AD models, and fresh and frozen human brain tissue. The project involves molecular analysis of brain capillaries, as well as ex vivo and in vivo imaging (confocal microscopy, 2-

photon microscopy following CLARITY or cranial window surgery, superresolution microscopy). The candidate will be part of a motivated research team, work in a productive scientific environment, use state-of- the-art equipment, and employ innovative approaches to generate high quality data for publication. The candidate will receive comprehensive mentoring, has to be highly motivated, enthusiastic, committed, and have an outstanding work ethic. The Hartz Laboratory fosters

interdisciplinary research and is dedicated to explore blood-brain barrier function with the goal to improve treatment of brain disorders. The Hartz Laboratory is part of the University of Kentucky NIH- funded Sanders-Brown Center on Aging ().

Education, training, experience:


The candidate should have a PhD, MD/PhD, or DVM in an area relevant to neuroscience. Preference will be given to individuals with experience in blood-brain barrier research and experience and a strong interest in Alzheimer's disease research. Prior experience with mouse colonies, imaging techniques

(confocal and MP microscopy) and standard molecular techniques (Western blotting, ELISA, IHC, IP) is desirable. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills, a solid publication record, and appropriate experience.
